Our Story
A Unique Box. A Unique Story.
Book in a Box was born from my lifelong love of reading. In 2022 I sat out to create a company that would bring readers together to share their love of fantasy books and bring the very best literature to that community. After months of planning, Book in a Box officially launched in May 2023 with Rebecca Yarro’s Fourth Wing.
Thanks to the enthusiastic community of book lovers and subscribers, Book in a Box outgrew the small shed I started in. I’m very proud and honoured to be able to work with the most amazing authors, artists, and publishers that make it possible to offer you subscribers special edition books, starting with the July 2024 box. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Early prototype

Our first trip to Bogforum
In November 2023, with the help of the family, we packed the car for the first time and headed for Bogforum.
Celebration of partnership
In January 2024, Jacob and Alexander joined Book in a Box and the small business grew from one to three!
Best Startup Award 2024
In a pitch competition, Book in a Box won the award as SDU's Best Startup 2024 - a very big, touching and unforgettable day!

Meet the Team
The team behind Book in a Box are Cecilie, Alexander and Jacob. We are honoured to collaborate with leading publishers, authors, and amazing artists to design and curate our book boxes. We are also supported by the greatest ambassadors who share our love of books.
Cecilie and Alexander both have a degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Southern Denmark. With Cecilie’s education and being a lifelong bibliophile, the curation of the boxes is in good hands. Jacob holds a degree in engineering and is the tech wizard who keeps our website running smoothly while you shop. Alexander holds a degree in literature and marketing and is the guy who spreads the word about our exciting news and concepts.

I’m not very kind to my books. They get bent, scribbled notes, cracked spine and used as plates.
