From June 1st, all subscription prices will be updated. As soon as our website reopens, the new pricing will be reflected, beginning with the July Box.
We will update all subscriptions to the new price, so you don’t have to do anything.

Your subscription price will be lowered starting with your renewal for the July Box. While shipping rates may be adjusted due to circumstances outside our control, your total subscription cost will still be lower than before.

We will update all subscription prices during June 1st and 2nd, so you don’t have to do a thing.

To change your subscription, you’ll need to cancel your current membership and then resubscribe to the box you prefer between June 2nd and June 30th. Just follow these steps:

1. Log into your account and cancel your current subscription
2. Click “Subscribe” and select the box you’d like to recieve
3. Complete checkout and start looking forward to your next box.

Please note: you must cancel and resubscribe before the 1st of the month you want to receive your new box. For example, if you want the September box, you need to resubscribe before September 1st.

Shipping costs have increased significantly, and unfortunately this is something we are feeling deeply as a small business too. We have spent a great deal of time speaking with shipping providers to secure the best possible rates, and these adjustments reflect the most affordable option currently available.

If you would like to save more on shipping, our Book Bundle Box may be the perfect fit, allowing you to receive three subscription books quarterly with only one shipping fee.

Due to rising global shipping costs, your shipping rate may increase slightly. However, even with this adjustment, your overall subscription total will still be lower than before.

This depends on your country’s import rules:

EU Customers
Book in a Box is based in Denmark (EU), meaning no extra import fees will apply. We collect VAT and pay it directly to your country.

USA
Books are currently exempt from tariffs. However, the US requires a 3 USD PGA fee for shipments entering the country. For subscription orders containing only books, we cover this fee on your behalf through DDP shipping, helping you avoid additional handling fees. Orders containing non-book items may still be subject to tariffs and local fees.

Canada
We ship DDP for all book-only orders and absorb these fees for you, helping ensure there are no unexpected charges upon delivery.

All Other Countries
Additional fees, tariffs, or import charges depend on your country’s regulations and are the customer’s responsibility.

The US now requires a mandatory PGA fee for qualifying shipments. Until now, we have absorbed this fee ourselves to help protect subscribers from additional handling charges. Our shipping adjustment reflects this absorbed cost, allowing us to continue making your experience as seamless as possible.

As part of our commitment to making our editions as accessible as possible, we are lowering webshop prices overall. Because of this, the subscriber-only 10% discount will be removed from June 1st. While we know this is a change, our goal is that our books will still be priced lower than before, and accessible to more readers.

Until now, prices displayed on our websites included VAT. Going forward, they will be shown excluding VAT. The reason is that our new systems will calculate and add VAT automatically at check-out, based on your own country’s specific VAT rates.

From June 1st, you will be able to choose between EUR and USD by selecting your preferred currency at the top of our website.

However it’s different for subscribers who’ve been with us before June 1st 2026.Please see the next question.

Current subscribers will continue to be charged in the currency they originally subscribed with. If you would like to change your currency, you will need to cancel your current subscription and subscribe again using your preferred currency.

From June 1st:

Monthly subscriptions:
Up to 6 skips per year, with a maximum of 3 consecutive skips. Skips needs to be requested to skip@bookinabox.dk at the 25th of the month before your renewal. E.g. a skip request for June’s box needs to be sent in at May 25th the latest.

Book Bundle-subscription:
Up to 2 skips per year, with no consecutive skips. Skips needs to be requested to skip@bookinabox.dk at the 25th of the month before your renewal. E.g. a skip request for your January, February and March bundle box needs to be sent in at February 25th the latest, before renewal on March 1st. See more undle “how does the book bundle work?”

A year counts as 12 months from your first box.

We hope this offers you greater flexibility while keeping your reading journey seamless.

Each quarter, you will receive three monthly subscription picks, which will be the same books as in our monthly boxes, in one carefully curated shipment, meaning you only pay shipping once for all three books.

• December 1st: October-December bundle

How do I skip my bundle box?
You have up to 2 skips per year, with no consecutive skips. Skips needs to be requested to skip@bookinabox.dk at the 25th of the month before your renewal.

Skip requests must be submitted before:

• No later than February 25th: Skip January-March bundle
• No later than May 25th: Skip April-June bundle
• No later than August 25th: Skip July-September bundle
• No later than November 25th: Skip October-December bundle 

This option is designed to offer both savings and convenience, while still bringing beautifully curated stories to your shelves.

We were very much looking forward to implementing this change as well. However, following the recent elections, the decision to remove VAT on books in Denmark was annulled and is now pending a future revote.

We are monitoring this closely and will update our website as soon as any official changes are confirmed and put into effect.

From June 1st, 2026, our pricing is displayed as follows:

• All webshop prices are shown excluding VAT
• Once you add items to your basket and proceed to checkout, VAT is calculated based on your country of residence
• Your local VAT is then added to your final total

This means the price you first see on the website may look lower than the final amount shown at checkout, depending on your location.

If you have shopped with us before June 1st, 2026, you may also notice that your overall total is now lower than before. This is because we have introduced several changes across our pricing structure to better support our readers while allowing Book in a Box to continue growing sustainably.
